About Us

Our Story

The Vancouver Filipino Seventh-Day Adventist Church has a rich history that is rooted in faith, dedication, and service. In the early 1980s, a small group of Filipino Adventists immigrated to Canada in search of a better life. They were a close-knit community who were passionate about sharing their faith with others and building a supportive community.

Initially, the group met in private homes to hold their worship services. However, as their numbers grew, they began to search for a more permanent location to worship. In 1984, the group was able to secure a lease on a small building in downtown Vancouver, which they renovated and transformed into a church.

Over the years, the church has grown and evolved, adapting to the changing needs and demographics of its members. Some members organized churches to cater to the needs of other members in Surrey and other locations. Today, the Vancouver Filipino Seventh-Day Adventist Church is a thriving and dynamic community of believers, united by their shared faith and commitment to serving God.

The church is home to people of many different cultures and backgrounds, but they are all united by their love of Christ and their desire to serve others. Regular worship services, Bible studies, and community outreach programs are held, and the members work together to support each other through life’s challenges.

As we look back on the church’s history, we are reminded of the faith and dedication of its founders, who overcame many obstacles to build a vibrant and supportive community. Their legacy lives on through the current members, who are committed to continuing the church’s mission of spreading the gospel message and building a community of believers who can support each other in faith and love.

Leading Others to God by Opening the Scriptures

Our Mission

This mission statement (LOGOS) is focused on three key areas:

Worship: This refers to our commitment to providing opportunities for people to come together and worship God. This can include regular church services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, and other events that help people grow in their faith and connect with God.

Service: This refers to our commitment to serving those in need in their community and beyond. This can include volunteering at local charities, organizing food drives, visiting the sick and elderly, and other acts of service that help make a positive impact in the world.

Outreach: This refers to our commitment to reaching out to those who may not have heard the gospel before. This can include evangelism efforts such as door-to-door visits, hosting community events, and other initiatives that help spread the message of God’s love.

Our Vision

To prepare people for heaven means that we are also committed to building a community of believers who are growing in their faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are focused on creating an environment where people can come together to worship God, build relationships with one another, and serve those in need.

Vancouver Filipino Seventh-Day Adventist Church hopes to make a positive impact in our community by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone they meet. We want to be known as a church that is making a difference in the world by serving others and spreading the message of God’s love.

“We value prayer, Bible study, fellowship, service, and evangelism.”

Our Values

The above statement reflects the core values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Each of these elements is essential to the spiritual growth and development of the individual Christian and the church as a whole.

Prayer

Prayer is a foundational aspect of the Christian life, as it provides a direct line of communication with God. Through prayer, Christians can express their gratitude, share their concerns, and seek guidance and direction from God.

Bible Study

Bible study is also critical to the Christian faith, as it allows individuals to deepen their understanding of God’s word, gain wisdom and insight, and develop a personal relationship with Christ. Bible study also provides the foundation for sound doctrine and belief.

Fellowship

Fellowship with other believers is important because it provides opportunities for mutual support, encouragement, and accountability. It helps to build a sense of community and connection among believers, which is essential to the spiritual growth of individuals and the church.

Service

Service is another important aspect of the Christian life, as it allows believers to express their faith in tangible ways by helping others in need. Service is also an opportunity to model Christ’s love and compassion to others.

Evangelism

Evangelism is an essential component of the Christian faith, as it involves sharing the good news of salvation with others. Through evangelism, believers can share the hope and joy they have found in Christ with others, leading them to a personal relationship with Christ and the eternal life he offers.

In summary, the value statement “We value prayer, Bible study, fellowship, service, and evangelism” emphasizes the importance of these five elements in the spiritual growth and development of individuals and our church as a whole. By prioritizing these values, Christians can deepen their faith, grow in community with other believers, and share the love and hope of Christ with others.
